Red Dragons Finish Fourth at Cortaca Northeast Invitational

ITHACA, N.Y. and CORTLAND, N.Y. – The SUNY Cortland women's golf team finished in fourth place out of 10 schools at the Cortaca Northeast Invitational, co-hosted by Cortland and Ithaca College. Saturday's opening round was held at the RaNic Golf Club (formerly the Country Club of Ithaca), while Sunday's round was conducted at the Cortland Country Club. 
 
Cortland finished with a two-day score of 664. The Red Dragons posted a 328 on Saturday and a 336 on Sunday. Hamilton won the team title with a 635 (317-318), followed by Ithaca at 651 (327-324), Westminster of Pennsylvania at 652 (327-325), Cortland and Union (345-342-687) in the top five. 
 
Paige Cerminaro (Howell, NJ) was Cortland's top finisher, tying for sixth place out of 58 golfers. She recorded a 79 each day for a final score of 158, three strokes behind tournament medalist Maddie Hong's 155 (80-75). Cerminaro was consistent throughout the weekend. She didn't register any birdies, but parred 24 of 36 holes – 11 on Saturday and 13 on Sunday. 
 
Sophie Oristian (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) tied for 14th place with a 165. She was tied for fifth after the first round with a 79, including two birdies and eight pars, before recording an 86 on Sunday. Amanda Gaffney (Williamsville/Williamsville East) placed 19th with a 169. Her 85 on Saturday featured a birdie and six pars, and she parred 10 holes on her way to an 84 Sunday. 
 
Alivia Waldron (Saranac) ended in 22nd place with a 172. She scored an 85 Saturday and an 87 Sunday with one birdie each day. Kristina Visniesky (Buffalo/Orchard Park), as an individual entry, tied for 27th place with a 175. She birdied two holes during a round of 85 in Ithaca and had one birdie Sunday and finished with a 90. Rachel Curatolo (Poughkeepsie/Spackenkill) was 36th with a 183 (92-91), and Sam McFadden (Bay Shore) tied for 49th with a 200, improving 10 strokes from the first and second round with a 95 on Sunday. 
 
Cortland will travel to Williamstown, Mass., next Saturday and Sunday for the Williams College Invitational.
