Cortland men's cross country runners
Hunter Brignall (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy),
Ryan Cory (Beacon) and
Mike Verde (Hopewell Junction/Arlington) and women's cross country runners
Rachel Castello (Cheektowaga/West Seneca East) and
Cat Zamroz (Levittown/Island Trees) have earned spots on the 2021 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Cross Country All-Academic Team.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a converted 4.0 scale. They also have to had finished in the top 25 percent of the NCAA regional qualifying race.
On the men's side, Cory finished first, Verde was 21st and Brignall placed 35th out of 159 runners at the NCAA Division III Niagara Region (Region 3) Championships. In the women's regional championship race, Zamroz finished in 32nd place and Castello was 33rd out of 142 runners. All five Red Dragons earned all-region honors with their finishes.
In addition, Cortland's men's and women's cross country teams each were designated as USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams by virtue of having team GPAs of at least 3.10. The Cortland women had an overall GPA of 3.32 and the men 3.15.
