POTSDAM, N.Y. – Freshman goalie
Molly Goergen (Eden Prairie, MN/Eden Prairie H.S.) turned aside 17 shots in posting her second shutout of the season as the Cortland women's ice hockey team defeated Potsdam, 4-0, in NEWHL action Friday night. The Red Dragons improved to 9-2 overall and 5-2 in the league. The Bears fell to 3-9-1 and 1-5-1.

Katie DeVoe (Mississauga, ON/Vaughan Flames) paced the Cortland offense with two goals. Sophomore
Kait Bourgeois (Cobden, ON/Ottawa Thunder) tallied a goal and an assist, and senior
Emily Kromer (Angola/Nazareth College) added a goal. Junior
Dany Donegan (Cicero/Syracuse Nationals) recorded two assists, while graduate student
Grace Schnorr (Camillus/Little Caesars), senior
Amanda Gaffney (Williamsville/Amherst Knights), junior
Molly McCabe (Webster/Webster Thomas) and freshmen
Mia Hlasnick (Olean/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) and
Meggan Cramer (Cicero/Northwood School) each chipped in with an assist.
Goalie Ellie Zurfluh made 27 saves for Potsdam.
DeVoe gave Cortland a 1-0 lead 4:01 into the first period on an even-strength goal. Bourgeois made it a 2-0 game with a power-play goal at 6:22 of the second period. Kromer put the Red Dragons ahead 3-0 at 6:27 of the third period before DeVoe finished the scoring with a power-play goal at 11:08 of the third period for the 4-0 final.
The two teams meet again on Saturday at 3 p.m.
