HOBOKEN, N.J. – Bruno Andino scored with less than five minutes remaining in regulation as the nationally fourth-ranked Stevens men's soccer team earned a come-from-behind 2-1 win versus 14th-ranked Cortland in the third round of the NCAA Div. III Tournament. The Ducks improved to 17-0-4 on the season and advanced to the national quarterfinals. The Red Dragons finished tied for ninth nationally with a 13-6-3 record.
Sophomore
Matt Shultz (Oneonta) scored his 10th goal of the season for Cortland. Junior goalie
Kyle Barsic (Amityville) made two saves.
Andino also added an assist for the Ducks. Fritz Kabeisman scored the other goal for Stevens, while Leo Musacchia collected an assist. Goalie Justin Cross registered four saves.
Shultz gave Cortland the lead just 4:10 before the end of the first half. The Ducks turned the ball over in their own end, and Shultz converted the turnover into a goal.
Stevens tied the game in the 52nd minute with header by Kabeisman into the left corner of the goal off Andino's free-kick serve. Andino scored the game winner in the 86th minute, scoring inside the far post after Musacchio's pass into the box. Cortland could not generate a shot in the closing minutes as the Ducks held on for the 2-1 win.
