Hanna Corrigan (Barneveld/Holland Patent) was named the tournament MVP. She scored Cortland's first goal in the title game as well as a goal in the Red Dragons' 2-1 semifinal win Wednesday versus Oneonta. Joining Corrigan on the all-tournament team were Fox, back
Elizabeth Pratt (Saratoga Springs) and goalie
Emma Morgan (Whitney Point), along with Geneseo's Hailey Roethel, Ada Roe and Darby Matthews, Oneonta's Carly Waszczak and Jennifer Tumino, and New Paltz's Morgan Woolley and Natasia Plunkett.
Corrigan and Fox teamed up to give Cortland a 1-0 lead 2:59 into the second quarter. Fox inserted a penalty corner that Corrigan controlled on the top left side of the circle. Corrigan took a quick dribble inside the circle and blasted home a shot.
Morgan helped preserved the lead when she stopped a Geneseo penalty stroke with 7:12 left in the third quarter. The Knights, however, broke through to tie the game on a goal by Katrina Clare, assisted by Matthews, with 7:48 remaining in regulation.
Morgan made two of her career-high seven saves in the seven-versus-seven overtime. Cortland's first shot in extra time came when Corrigan freed herself up for a shot that hit off the left post. Fox quickly reacted and used a reverse stick to score the unassisted game winner.
Cortland held a slight edge in shots, 11-10, but Geneseo earned 12 of the game's 17 penalty corners, all after halftime. Geneseo goalie Sarah Quinlan finished with three saves.
