Win Streak Stopped at Four in 4-2 Setback at Buffalo St.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Buffalo St. men's hockey team scored the last three goals of the game to earn a 4-2 win versus Cortland Saturday night in SUNYAC play. The Red Dragons dropped to 6-4-1 overall and 5-3 in the conference. The Bengals improved to 7-6 and 4-4.

Junior John Kuhl (Essex Fells, NJ/Boston Jr. Rangers) and sophomore Anthony Bernardo (Hauppauge/P.A.L. Junior Islanders) scored Cortland's goals. Sophomore Andrew Clifford (Gloversville/New Hampshire Avalanche) and freshman Nicholas Serio (Bayville/P.A.L. Junior Islanders) each registered assists. Senior goalie Luca Durante (Brampton, ON/Aurora Tigers) turned aside 30 shots.

Nick Stuckless led the Bengals with a pair of goals. Joe Glamos tallied a goal and an assist, Nikita Kozyrev netted a goal, Chris Blanco picked up two assists and three others each contributed an assist. Goalie Emil Norrman made 25 saves.

After a scoreless first period, Bernardo put the Red Dragons ahead just 1:23 into the second period. Norrman came out of his net to play a rink-long pass by Cortland, shot the puck into Bernardo who scored into the empty net for his fourth goal of the season. Stuckless tied the game at 4:55 of the period with a short-handed goal before Kuhl made it a 2-1 Cortland lead with a shot from the left point through a screen at 16:45.

Stuckless tied the game at 4:33 of the third period when he converted from the slot after Buffalo St. forced a turnover in Cortland's defensive zone. Glamos scored what proved to be the game winner with a short-handed goal after he broke up a pass near the Bengals' blue line and slipped a shot under Durante on a breakaway. With time winding down, Cortland pulled Durante for an extra skater, but Kozyrev sealed the win with an empty-net goal with four seconds remaining for the 4-2 final.
