Demitreus Henry Finishes Eighth at 174 Pounds at NCAA Championships

All-American Demitreus Henry
CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA – Cortland senior Demitreus Henry (Brooklyn/Grand Street Campus) earned All-America honors with an eighth-place finish at 174 pounds at the 2022 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse.

Henry finished the tournament with a 3-3 record to close the season at 32-5 and wrap up his Cortland career with an 81-20 mark.

Henry secured his top-eight finish and the All-America status that goes with it by posting a 3-1 record on Friday. On Saturday, he opened with a 5-3 loss in the first sudden-victory overtime period versus Jacob Krakow of Loras, then fell to Stefan Major of Stevens Institute, 7-4, in the seventh-place match.

Henry, one of four Cortland wrestlers at the national championship, accounted for all 7.5 of the Red Dragons' team points. Cortland finished in 38th place out of 70 schools competing.

Wartburg won the national team title with 79 points, narrowly edging Wabash (78) to extend the streak of either Wartburg or Augsburg winning the national crown every year since 1995. Augsburg and North Central tied for third place with 62.5 points apiece.
