JEKYLL ISLAND, GA. –  Three Cortland women's golfers earned top-15 finishes as the Red Dragons began their spring schedule at the Jekyll Island Individual Invitational. The tournament was originally scheduled for three days from Friday through Sunday, March 18-20, but the final day was canceled due to heavy rains the previous evening. 
 
Paige Cerminaro (Howell, NJ) tied for third place out of 36 golfers with a two-day score of 156. She registered an 80 on Friday and a 76 on Saturday on the par-72 Jekyll Island Golf Club Oleander Course. Claudia Winterberg (Harrisburg, NC/Hickory Ridge) tied for sixth place with a 158 (80-78) and Sophie Oristian (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) tied for 15th place with a 168 (82-86). Gwynnie Lee of Washington-St. Louis and Charlotte Kwong of NYU tied for first place at 154 apiece. 
 
Other Red Dragon top finishers included Alivia Waldron (Saranac) in a tie for 19th place with a 172 (86 each day) and Kristina Visniesky (Buffalo/Orchard Park) in 22nd place with a 177 (87-90). There was no team scoring at the event. 
 
Cerminaro registered a 40 on each nine Friday with 11 pars and six bogeys. On Saturday she opened with a 36 on the back nine, including two birdies and five pars, and had a 40 on the front with a birdie and three pars. She posted only one double bogey in 36 holes. 
 
Winterberg's Friday round started with a 39 on the back nine, followed by a 41 on the front. She birdies two holes, parred seven, and had only one double bogey. On Saturday, she started with a 40 on the back and had a 38 on the front. Her round included three birdies, seven pars and just one double bogey. 
 
Oristian birdied two holes and parred seven others during her Friday round. She had a 40 on the back nine, followed by a 42 on the front. On Saturday, she carded a 43 on each side and finished the day with seven pars. 
 
Cortland's next scheduled competition is April 2-3 at the Westminster (Pa.) Spring Invitational.
