NEW CASTLE, PA. – The Cortland women's golf team finished first out of six schools at the weather-shortened Westminster College (Pa.) Invitational. The first day of the tournament was held at the New Castle Country Club. The second day was scheduled for the Avalon Country Club - Squaw Creek in Vienna, Ohio, but was canceled due to snow. 
 
Cortland finished with a team score of 341, eight strokes ahead of Westminster's 349 and nine better than Ithaca's 350. Allegheny (352), Washington & Jefferson (386) and Thiel (413) rounded out the field. 
 
Paige Cerminaro (Howell, NJ) was the tournament medalist with an 81 Saturday on the par-71 New Castle course. Alivia Waldron (Saranac) finished second with an 83, while Amanda Gaffney (Williamsville/Williamsville East) tied for third with an 84, along with Westminster's Sierra Richard and Ithaca's Caitlin McGrinder. 
 
Sophie Oristian (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) tied for 19th place with a 93, Claudia Winterberg (Harrisburg, NC/Hickory Ridge) tied for 24th place with a 96, and Kristina Visniesky (Buffalo/Orchard Park) finished 27th with a 97. A total of 41 golfers competed. 
 
Cerminaro finished the day Saturday with a birdie and seven pars. Waldron parred 10 holes and recorded only one bogey, while Gaffney carded two birdies and four pars. Oristian ended the day with two birdies and 11 pars, Winterberg finished with eight pars, and Visniesky had a birdie and five pars. 
 
Cortland's next scheduled tournament is the Vassar Invitational on April 16-17.
