ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Four Cortland wrestlers placed in the top six of their weight classes in the "White" division of the New York State Intercollegiate Open, hosted by RIT. The non-team scoring event featured 32 teams, including NCAA Division I and III schools, junior colleges, and other programs. 
 
Michael Barker (Holbrook/Sachem North) finished second at 157 pounds. He opened with a 4-2 win over an RIT wrestler and defeated Ithaca's Adrian Rosario-Beato, 2-0, in the semifinals, before losing, 3-0, to Oneonta's Max Yahre in the finals. 
 
Two Red Dragons placed at 141 pounds. Shane Walczyk (Eden) finished in fourth place with a 4-2 record, including three wins by pin, and Noah Orser (Carmel) went 2-2 and tied for sixth place. Justin Amendola (Rocky Point) finished sixth at 125 pounds with a 2-3 record. 
 
Four other Cortland wrestlers each won twice during the day – Christian Lievano (East Setauket/Ward Melville) at 125, Amos Rivera (Carmel/Fox Lane) at 133, Vinnie Santilli (South Glens Falls) at 141 and Chris Mableton (Bay Shore) at 149. 
 
Cortland travels to Illinois next Friday and Saturday for the Wheaton College Pete Willson Invitational.
