ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Cortland women's swimming and diving team lost a dual meet at the University of Rochester, 188-106. The Red Dragons earned three victories on the afternoon - two by
Leah Bernhardt (Groton) in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:22.86) and 500-yard freestyle (5:28.01) and the other by
Alayna Miller (Hilton) in the 50-yard freestyle (25.95).
Areiannah Martinez-Reyes (Queens/Benjamin Cardozo) and
Ella Garrow (Peru) each notched two runner-up finishes. Martinez-Reyes was second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.45) and 100-yard butterfly (1:01.53) and Garrow was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.77) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:35.19).
Bernhardt led a sweep of the top three spots in the 1,000-yard freestyle for the Red Dragons.
Sophie Amering (Hilton) was second in 11:30.01 and
Angie Gittschau (Camillus/West Genesee) was third in 11:52.28.
Julia Bryce (Rochester/School of the Arts) was second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:24.73),
Madison Heffern (Gilbert, AZ/Gilbert Christian) placed second in 3-meter diving (194.45 points), and the combination of Martinez-Reyes,
Kaitlyn Devaney (Lynbrook),
Kaila O'Hara (East Islip) and Bernhardt finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:52.46).
Cortland will host Ithaca in a dual meet on Nov. 4 at 1 p.m.
