REISTERSTOWN, MD. – The nationally 14th-ranked Cortland women's hockey team earned an 8-0 victory at Stevenson Saturday afternoon to complete a two-game shutout sweep to start its season.

Freshman Katie Mahoney (Toronto, ON/Toronto Leaside) led the Red Dragons with her first career hat trick. Freshman Ella Bergstrom (Alvsbyn, Sweden/Lulea HF Sweden) scored the first two goals of her career. Graduate student Emily Racco (Minesing, ON/Post University) netted her first goal as a Red Dragon, and senior Jillian Hlasnick (Olean/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) and junior Natalie O'Brien (Lockport/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) each scored a goal.

Graduate student Dany Donegan (Cicero/Syracuse Nationals) and senior Kait Bourgeois (Cobden, ON/Ottawa Thunder) each recorded two assists for the Red Dragons. Junior Mia Hlasnick (Olean/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) and sophomores Fanny Aneborn (Linkoping, Sweden/Lulea HF Sweden) and Ellie Grinnals (Liverpool/Syracuse Valley Eagles) picked up one assist apiece.

Freshman goalie Olivia Lumpiesz (Pinckney, MI/Biggby Coffee Hockey Club) registered nine saves in her first career start for Cortland. Goalie Mallory Hunt stopped 18 shots in 33:35, and Maggie Sehnert turned aside 27 shots in 26:25 and allowed just one goal.

Cortland opened up a 3-0 lead after the first period and made it a 7-0 score after two periods with Mahoney completing her hat trick. Racco completed the scoring in the third period for the 8-0 final.
