#6 Cortland Edges #23 Oneonta, 1-0, in SUNYAC Men's Soccer Title Game

CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The nationally sixth-ranked and top-seeded Cortland men's soccer team won its 20th State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) title and second in three years with a 1-0 win over nationally 23rd-ranked and third-seeded Oneonta at Holloway Field. 
 
Cortland (15-2-2) earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III playoffs with the victory. The NCAA pairings will be announced during a selection show that will air Monday, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. on NCAA.com. 
 
Jack Coleman (Newark Valley/Maine-Endwell) scored the game's lone goal in the 24th minute when he converted a pass from Mateo Marra (Ossining) for his ninth goal of the season. 
 
Oneonta (14-2-4) outshot Cortland, 15-12, and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks, but Jordan Ott (Fort Worth, TX/Southwest Christian) made nine saves for his 10th shutout of the season. Oneonta's Nate Hanna finished with seven saves. 
 
Marra, who registered two goals and two assists in Cortland's 5-0 semifinal win over Buffalo State, was named the SUNYAC Tournament MVP. He was joined on the all-tournament team by Ott, Coleman and Jack Pinnata (Plainview/Plainview-Old Bethpage), Oneonta's Hanna, Joe Holder and John Bernardi, Buffalo State's Diego Rivera and Aladin Ali, and Brockport's Andrew Taylor and Sean Lee.
