Danielle Fisk (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) and sophomore
Isaiah Brunache (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) have been selected as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's and Men's Indoor Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for the second straight week. Their latest honors are for the week ending Dec. 10.
In her first college combined-event, Fisk won the pentathlon with a score of 3,376 points that currently ranks second nationally in Division III. She won all five events, three with All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) qualifying marks - the 60-meter hurdles (9.25), the high jump (1.64 meters/5' 4.5") and the long jump (5.32 meters/17' 5.5"). Her other two wins were in the shot put (9.58 meters/31' 5.25") and the 800 meters (2:38.93). Fisk's high jump ranks ninth nationally. Cortland placed second out of 13 schools in the final team standings.
Brunache won both the shot put and the weight throw at the Utica Holiday Classic. His shot put of 15.72 meters (51' 7") ranks 12th nationally in Division III and his weight throw of 17.07 meters (56' 0") ranks 14th nationally. Both are AARTFC qualifiers. He helped Cortland finish first out of 13 schools in the team standings.
Cortland returns to action on Jan. 20 at a quad meet hosted by Ithaca College.
