#13 Cortland Falls to Canton, 2-1, in OT

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Sophomore Danika Lalonde (Sudbury, ON/Barrie Jr. Sharks) scored 37 seconds into overtime as the Canton women's ice hockey team earned a come-from-behind 2-1 victory at nationally 13th-ranked Cortland Wednesday night in SUNYAC action at Alumni Arena.

Senior Jillian Hlasnick (Olean/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) scored Cortland's goal with graduate student Dany Donegan (Cicero/Syracuse Nationals) picking up an assist. Junior goalie Molly Goergen (Eden Prairie, MN/Eden Prairie H.S.) turned aside 24 shots for the Red Dragons (7-3-1, 4-2-1 SUNYAC).

Senior Makayla Young (Dallas, TX/Dallas Stars Elite) also netted a goal for the Kangaroos (9-4, 2-4 SUNYAC). Seniors Gracyn Emmerton (Oro-Medonte, ON/North York Storm) and Desiree Snook (Paradise, NL/St. Francis Xavier University) and sophomore Sydney Valiquette (London, ON/Bluewater Jr. Hawks) collected an assist. Freshman goalie Molly Lenihan (West Chezzetcook, NS/Ontario Hockey Academy) made 38 saves.

After a scoreless first period, Hlasnick gave Cortland the lead at 13:31 of the second period with a wrist shot over Lenihan's glove and into the upper right corner. Young tied the game at 3:04 of the third period on a shot from the left side after Emmerton forced a turnover below the end line.

In overtime, Lalone took a pass from Valiquette, skated down the right side and scored with a wrist shot from the right circle for the 2-1 victory.
