Coach's Corner - Comments from Cortland Head Coach Sulekha Modi Zaug:
What a special day to celebrate our seniors! It was so great to see so many alumni here as well to support the team and come together for the weekend. Our seniors have had quite the difficult experience with their first season cut short just before regionals where we were seeded 2nd as a team heading into it, no second season due to Covid, overcoming the mental aspect of the sport after not being able to practice for a year and still having strong individual scores and now in their senior year all three having career or season high scores! For these seniors being able to upgrade and maintain the high level of difficulty at this point is so remarkable. Abby received a season high score on floor today!
Honorable mention goes to
Delaney Brown who received career high scores on both floor and vault showing that she is ready to lead this team next year as a senior!
As we move closer to the end of the season the goal is to have as many of our team qualify to nationals as possible either as a team if we come in top 3 at Regionals, or individually. There are potential National Champion caliber athletes on this team if they can continue to hit their routines the rest of season!
