FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Cortland women's swimming and diving team won seven individual events, including two by
Nicole Murphy (Saratoga Springs), and the Red Dragons defeated host Fredonia, 129-105, in dual-meet action to wrap up the regular season. Cortland will return to action Feb. 15-18 at the SUNYAC Championships in Buffalo.
Murphy won the 50-yard freestyle in 26.00 seconds and rallied for a victory in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:40.91). Murphy trailed in that race by almost a second and a half entering the final leg before fighting back to win by just more than a half second.
Mackenzie Dickman (Montgomery/Valley Central) won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.17) and
Emily Lantry (Massena/St. Lawrence) won the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.39).
Leah Bernhardt (Groton) was victorious in the 500-yard freestyle (5:26.17) and
Emma Bogdanowicz-Wilson (Schenectady) captured the 200-yard IM (2:25.64).
Caitlin Elsasser (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) earned first-place points in the 200-yard butterfly (2:21.97) as the lone entry in the race.
No divers competed at the meet.
