Cortland Drops Dual-Match Decision to Hamilton College in Florida

Sophie Oristian was Cortland's top finisher versus Hamilton
ORMOND BEACH, FLA. – The Cortland women's golf team lost a dual match versus Hamilton College at the Halifax Plantation Golf Club. The Continentals, who are among the "also receiving votes" section of the latest Division III national poll, finished with a 319 while Cortland ended with a 345.
 
Hamilton's Peyton Sichol and Alaina McKeen shared medalist honors with scores of 77 on the par-72 layout. Sophie Oristian (North Potomac, MD/Quince Orchard) was Cortland's top finisher in a tie for third place, along with Hamilton's Olivia Strigh, with an 81.
 
Cortland's other competitors included Alivia Waldron (Plattsburgh/Saranac) in sixth place (85), Claudia Winterberg (Harrisburg, NC/Hickory Ridge) in seventh (87), Sarah Wiggins (Carson City, NV/Carson) in eighth (92) and Rachel Curatolo (Poughkeepsie/Spackenkill) in a tie for ninth (94). Rounding out Hamilton's contingent were Sarah DeSanto in fifth (84) and Allie Lee Hoffman in a tie for ninth (94).
 
The previous day Cortland and Ithaca competed for nine holes in a non-team scoring event at the Cleveland Heights Golf Course in Lakeland, Fla. Ithaca's Rheanna Decrow posted the best score with a four-over par 40. Winterberg and Ithaca's Cristea Park tied for second, each at 41, and Oristian, Wiggins and Ithaca's Annika Michel tied for fourth with scores of 42. Waldron finished seventh (44) and Curatolo was eighth (56).
