HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FLA. – The Cortland women's golf team remains in 26th place after the second day of competition at the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships. The championship is being held on the El Campeon Golf Course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club.
Cortland posted a score of 356, five strokes better than its first-round score from Tuesday. The Red Dragons' two-day total of 717 is one stroke behind Catholic University and seven behind Aurora University. The second round was halted mid-day due to weather, leading to a darkness suspension with seven schools needing to finish. George Fox is the current leader with a two-day score of 629, followed by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps with a 634.
Cortland's tee-off times for Thursday's third round begin at 12:10 p.m. After Thursday's action the field will be reduced to the top 15 teams, and top six individuals not on those teams, for Friday's final round.
Sophomore
Sophie Oristian (North Potomac, MD/Quince Orchard) leads Cortland thus far with a two-day total of 175. Her round of 84 on the par-73 layout Wednesday included eight pars, nine bogyes and only one double bogey.
Graduate student
Amanda Gaffney (Williamsville/Williamsville East) is one stroke behind Oristian with a 176. She carded a 90 on Wednesday with six pars. Sophomore
Claudia Winterberg (Harrisburg, NC/Hickory Ridge) finished with a 91 on Wednesday, including six pars, and has a two-day total of 184.
Freshman
Sarah Wiggins (Carson City, NV/Carson) posted a 95 on Wednesday and is at 186 through two days. Her Wednesday round featured a birdie and three pars. Senior
Alivia Waldron (Plattsburgh/Saranac) parred seven holes Wednesday on her way to a 91 and has a two-day score of 188.
