Cortland Drops Non-Conference Game at Clarkson, 1-0

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Clarkson women's soccer team scored a late first-half goal and held on for a 1-0 non-conference win versus Cortland Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons dropped to 3-2-1 with the setback. The Golden Knights remained unbeaten on the season at 5-0-1.

Junior goalie Kristen Spendal (Dumont, NJ) made five saves for Cortland. Goalie Molly DiCaprio stopped five shots for Clarkson. Brooke Everest scored the goal for the Golden Knights with Emily Colby collecting an assist.

Everest tallied the game winner in the 36th minute shortly after a Clarkson corner kick. The Red Dragons had an excellent chance to score the equalizer in the 79th minute, but DiCaprio made a save on graduate student Bryn Thompson's (Hopewell Junction/Arlington) penalty kick. Cortland pressured late in the game, earning a corner kick in the 88th minute but nothing came from it. In the 89th minute, Thompson and senior Liz Allen (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) each missed wide with shots as Clarkson held on fo the 1-0 win
