FREDONIA, N.Y. – The nationally 24th-ranked Cortland men's soccer team scored five second-half goals and earned a 7-0 win at Fredonia Saturday afternoon to open SUNYAC play. The Red Dragons improved to 7-1-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while the Blue Devils fell to 4-2-3 and 0-2.

Senior Mateo Marra (Ossining) led the Cortland offensive onslaught with two goals and two assists. Junior Muiz Bayewu (Lagos, Nigeria/Albany (NY)) also netted two goals. Senior Jack Coleman (Newark Valley/Maine-Endwell) and junior Matt Shultz (Oneonta) each scored a goal, and freshman Justin Coleman (Endwell/Maine-Endwell) picked up his first career goal.

Senior Jason Lee (Middle Village/Xavier), juniors Cade Denlinger (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown Area), Logan Comfort (Cazenovia) and Yasin Choukri (Wilton, CT) each registered an assist for the Red Dragons.

Sophomore goalie Jordan Ott (Fort Worth, TX/Southwest Christian) did not face a shot on goal in posting the shutout for Cortland. Three goalies saw time for the Blue Devils. Tanner Stutzman made six saves in 69:22, Kyle Pezzulo stopped one shot in 11:15 and Thomas McDonald did not face a shot in 9:23.

Jack Coleman opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, followed by Marra's first goal just under seven minutes later. Marra made it a 3-0 game in the 50th minute. Shultz tallied his team-high eighth goal of the season in the 54th minute before Bayewu netted back-to-back goals in the 65th and 76th minutes. Justin Coleman completed the scoring in the 89th minute for the 7-0 final.
