Red Dragons Ride 3-Point Strength to 76-62 Win at Buffalo State

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Kendall Arcuri (Staten Island/St. Joseph by the Sea) scored a career-high 23 points, including four of Cortland's 14 3-pointers, as the Red Dragons defeated host Buffalo State, 76-62, in a SUNYAC men's basketball contest. 
 
Cortland evened its season record at 8-8 and is tied for fourth in the SUNYAC standings with a 5-4 league record. 
 
Arcuri hit 8-of-12 shots overall, including 4-of-6 from the arc, and was 3-for-3 from the foul line. He also matched his career high with four steals. Isaiah Austin (Albany) made all three of his 3-point attempts and finished with a season-high 11 points along with three assists. TayShaun Hawkins (Riverhead) added 10 points and Pierre Hajjar (Brussels, Belgium/Victory Rock Prep) netted eight points. 
 
In addition, Kareem Lubin (Monroe/Washingtonville) scored nine points and pulled down seven rebounds. Jaylen Warmack (Utica/Utica Notre Dame) finished with seven points, five rebounds and a career-high nine assists and Danny Linehan (Blauvelt/Tappan Zee) rang up seven points, seven rebounds and three assists. 
 
Brendyn Cheng led Buffalo State (0-14, 0-7 SUNYAC) with 11 points and five rebounds and Maley McCurty scored nine points. 
 
Cortland 30-24 at halftime after a tightly played opening 20 minutes. The Red Dragons pushed their lead to 14 points at 47-33 after an Austin 4-point play with 13:27 left. The margin grew to as high as 21 points with 7:42 left, and from that point the Bengals got no closer than the final 14-point outcome. 
 
Cortland shot 42 percent overall and 38 percent from 3-point range. Buffalo State ended at 39 percent overall and just 19 percent (3-of-16) from deep. 
 
Cortland hosts New Paltz Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
