CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Cortland wrestling team finished 2-0 at its own Red Dragon Duals, defeating St. John Fisher, 28-21, and Alfred State, 48-6. Fisher won the opening match of the day, defeating Alfred State, 46-3. Cortland evened its record at 3-3 on the season with the wins.
 
Cortland took an 18-0 lead over Fisher after four matches before holding off the Cardinals. Cade Sands (Addison/Addison Central) pinned his opponent in 1:17 at 125 pounds and Rocco Futia (Wallkill) won by a 17-8 major decision at 133 pounds. Dom Vinci (Spencerport) won 11-5 at 141 pounds and Angelo Centrone (Mahopac) posted a 22-6 technical fall in 3:47 at 149 pounds.
 
Fisher won the next three matches, two by pin, to close within 18-15. Cortland, however, responded with a 9-1 major decision by Robby Cunningham (Miller Place) at 184 pounds and a win by injury default by Bryson Tibbs (Middletown) at 197 pounds to secure the win.
 
Cortland won nine of its 10 bouts in the victory over Alfred State. Sands won by pin in 1:27 at 125 and Culley Bellino (Canastota) pinned his foe in 1:58 at 133. Vinci earned an 11-2 major decision at 141 and Centrone won by a 22-4 technical fall in 1:31 at 149. Christian Paredes (Bohemia/Connetquot) followed with a 6-4 decision at 157, Christian St. John (Huntington) won by forfeit at 165, Cunningham posted a pin in 41 seconds at 184, Tibbs won by forfeit at 197 and Seth Parker (Moravia) pinned his opponent in 4:22 at 285.
