CORTLAND, N.Y. – John Kuhl (Essex Falls, NJ/Boston Jr. Rangers) scored 1:57 into overtime to lift Cortland past visiting Oswego, 2-1, in the regular-season finale for both teams.
 
With the victory the Red Dragons enter the postseason 15-8-2 (10-5-1 SUNYAC) and will be the fourth seed in the SUNYAC playoffs and will host the fifth seed, to be determined, in the first round next Wednesday night. The Lakers fall to 16-8-1 (12-4 SUNYAC) but will be the second seed and will receive a bye into the semifinals.
 
Junior Domenic Settimo (East Meadow/P.A.L. Junior Islanders) opened the scoring 10:02 into the second period, converting on a power play opportunity for the Red Dragons. Shane Bull answered for Oswego with 4:21 left in the frame, netting his 21st goal of the season for the Lakers. Both teams had power play chances in the final period of regulation, but neither side was able to capitalize.
 
Overtime was all Cortland as the Red Dragons held Oswego to zero shots in the extra period. Kuhl won it off of a feed from senior Nate Berke (Williamsville/Buffalo Jr. Sabres). Nick Serio (Bayville/P.A.L. Junior Islanders) registered assists on both Red Dragon goals.
 
Senior goalie Jack Riedell (Greensboro, NC/Charlotte Rush) turned away 40 of the 41 shots he faced for the Red Dragons. Cal Schell stopped 38 of the 40 shots he faced for the Lakers, including three in overtime.
