Red Dragons Ease Past Fredonia, 90-58, in Regular-Season Finale

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland women's basketball team closed out its regular-season schedule with a 90-58 SUNYAC victory over visiting Fredonia.
 
Cortland (18-7, 14-4 SUNYAC) will be the second seed in next week's six-team SUNYAC tournament and will receive a bye into the semifinals. Cortland will face either third-seeded Geneseo or sixth-seeded Oneonta on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at top-seeded New Paltz, with the finals set for Saturday at 4 p.m., also at New Paltz.
 
Emily Morano (Olyphant, PA/Mid Valley) led Cortland with 20 points, five assists and five steals. Logan Streety (Elma/Iroquois) finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. She made all six of her free throws. Brooke Tillotson (Marathon) scored 12 points, Mariah Huss (Kenmore/Sacred Heart Academy) contributed 11 points and three steals and Abby Wilkinson (Cato/Bishop Grimes) scored 10 points. Kaeli McAnally (Islip) added eight points on 3-of-4 shooting. Seniors Morano and Streety and graduate student Wilkinson were honored prior to the game.
 
Renee Park hit three 3-pointers and finished with 15 points and six rebounds for Fredonia (12-13, 7-11 SUNYAC). Kyla Smith tallied nine points and three assists.
 
Cortland led 54-32 at halftime behind the strength of 57 percent shooting from the field during the opening 20 minutes. The Red Dragons finished the game at 50 percent overall and 47 percent (8-of-17) from the 3-point arc. Cortland also sank 22-of-27 free throws (82 percent). Cortland put the game out of reach after outscoring the Blue Devils in the third quarter, 21-7.
