Six Red Dragons Place at Mideast Futures Tournament

Chris Bold finished third at 197 pounds with a 3-1 record
EWING TOWNSHIP, N.J. – The Cortland wrestling team posted six top-six finishes, including two third-place showings, at the Mideast Futures Tournament, hosted on Sunday by The College of New Jersey. There was no team scoring at the event.
 
Christian Lievano (East Setauket/Ward Melville) finished third at 125 pounds with a 3-1 record. He won twice before losing in the semifinals, but he bounced back for an 11-7 decision over RIT's Jacob Deysher in the third-place match. Chris Bold (Miller Place) followed a similar path for a third-place finish at 197 pounds. He won his first two matches, one by pin, before falling in the semifinals. He claimed third place with a pin over Mark Ritschel of York.
 
Rocco Futia (Wallkill) and Ryan Monahan (Bohemia/Connetquot) earned fourth-place finishes at 141 and 184 pounds, respectively. Futia went 3-2 with a pin and technical fall and Monahan was 2-2 with a technical fall and major decision. Gabe Lynch (Theresa/Indian River) placed sixth at 157 pounds with a 4-2 record that included three pins and Justin Klein (Miller Place) finished 3-2 with a pin and a major decision to place sixth at 165 pounds.
