PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The starting Cortland attack unit accounted for 10 goals as the Red Dragons opened their season with a commanding 15-7 victory at St. John Fisher on Wednesday.

Sam Rothman (Dix Hills/Half Hollow Hills East) led the Cortland attack with four goals and two assists. Caden Yancey (Fayettevill/Fayetteville-Manlius) tallied three goals and four assists, while Kole Stuver (Fairport) recorded three goals and two assists.

Klay Stuver (Fairport) netted a pair of goals, Ryan Scanlon (Cornelius, NC/William Amos Hough) contributed a goal and two assists, Josh Michel (Manlius/Fayetteville-Manlius) picked up a goal and an assist in his first game as a Red Dragon and Ryan Eccles (Syracuse/Corcoran) scored a goal for the Red Dragons.

Cortland goalie Travis Wagner (Penfield) made 13 saves. Yancey, Alex Thrasher (Vestal) and Aidan McHugh (Maine/Maine-Endwell) each collected three ground balls.

Sean Donaldson and Brett Seaman led the Cardinals (1-2) with two goals each. Jordan Leuze tallied a goal and two assists, Timmy Salit registered a goal and an assist and Brady Mason added a goal.

Ben Hammond started in goal, making four saves in the first half. Tyler Manning stopped three shots in the second half. Logan Grom won 12-of-18 faceoffs and collected nine ground balls. Jack Cornell finished with five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
