CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Cortland men's hockey team fell to nationally fourth-ranked Plattsburgh, 5-4, in SUNYAC action Friday night. With the loss the Red Dragons dropped to 13-8-2 (8-5-1 SUNYAC) on the season, while Plattsburgh climbs to 17-3-2 (10-2-1 SUNYAC).
 
Both teams came out firing in a first period that saw five total goals. Adam Tretowicz got the scoring started just 78 seconds into the game to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead. Junior defenseman Johnny Facchini (Succasunna, NJ/P.A.L Junior Islanders) tied it up for Cortland with 8:33 left in the frame, hitting the back of the net on a breakaway. It took only 39 seconds for a Plattsburgh answer, as Ryan Bonfield took back the lead for the Cardinals. Sophomores Colby Sietz (Eden NY/Corpus Christi Ice Rays) and Stephen Kyrkostas (Selden, NY/Johnstown Tomahawks) scored consecutively to give the Red Dragons a 3-2 advantage they took into the first intermission.
 
 Tio D'Addario scored the only goal of the 2nd period 7:48 in on the power play, knotting the score at 3-3. D'Addario scored again just 3:11 into the third, what would prove to be the game winning goal. Bennett Stockdale extended the lead to 5-3 with 2:54 remaining, his 16th goal of the season. Cortland pulled its goalie for an extra skater with 1:33 remaining and Nick Serio (Bayville/P.A.L. Junior Islanders) managed to pull one back for the home side, but the Red Dragons were unable to net the equalizer.
 
D'Addario led the charge for the Cardinals, the only skater with two goals for either team on the night. Stockdale, Bonfield and Tretowicz each scored one in the Cardinal victory, and Jack Ring picked up two assists.
 
Seitz and Kyrkostas both picked up one goal and one assist for the Red Dragons. Facchini and Serio each tallied a goal, and Andrew Clouden (Hamburg/Seacoast Spartans), A.J. Przystawski (Burlington, CT/New Hampshire Avalanche), Nate Boak (Canton/El Paso Rhinos), and Sutter Donegan (Cicero/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) all registered an assist in the effort.
