Cortland Drops Stroke Play Decision to Ithaca During Day 2 of Cortaca Cup

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cortland women's golf team lost to Ithaca College, 293-329, during the second day of the three-day Cortaca Cup at the RaNic Golf Club.

Ithaca earned Saturday's two points - one for the team victory and one for having the individual champion. Ithaca's Madison Coffey and Helena Winterberg shared medalist honors with one-under par rounds of 71. The Bombers lead 5-0 entering Sunday's final day at the Cortland Country Club - 18-hole match play with each of the five matchups worth a point. A total of 5.5 points is needed to win the Cup. The event and format is being played for the first time this year.

Cortland's Gina Milazzo (Greenwood Lake/Warwick Valley) finished fourth with a 76, including birdies on two of the first four holes. Sophie Oristian (North Potomac, MD/Quince Orchard) finished seventh with an 81, Pia Aguilar (Santiago, Chile/Colegio Highlands) was eighth with an 83, Kara Dumas (Jefferson/Gilboa-Conesville) placed ninth with an 89 and Mimi Rienzo (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) finished 10th with a 90.
