WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. – The Cortland women's golf team finished in 19th place at the Williams College Invitational Saturday and Sunday at the Taconic Golf Club. The tournament featured eight schools ranked in the top 25 of the WGCA preseason Division III preseason poll.
The Red Dragons finished with a two-day score of 699. Cortland posted a 362 on Saturday and dramatically improved to a 337 on Sunday on the par-71 layout. Wellesley, ranked 12th nationally, won the title with a 592 (295-297), followed by 17th-ranked NYU (301-299-600), sixth-ranked Williams (306-301-607) and 11th-ranked Amherst (301-308-609). Other ranked teams in the field included Hamilton (21st), Randolph-Macon (25th), Middlebury (22nd) and Rhodes (24th).
Gina Milazzo (Greenwood Lake/Warwick Valley) tied for 41st out of 114 golfers with a 159. She had an 84 Saturday and a four-over par 75, including two birdies and 10 pars, on Sunday. Bowdoin's Emily Renoff was tournament medalist with a 139 (71-68).
Mimi Rienzo (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) placed 90th with a 176. Her 83 on Sunday featured nine pars.
Sophie Oristian (North Potomac, MD/Quince Orchard) tied for 91st with a 177 (89-88), with one birdie each day.
Kara Dumas (Jefferson/Gilboa-Conesville) tied for 99th with a 187 (96-91), with a birdie on Sunday, and
Pia Aguilar (Santiago, Chile/Colegio Highlands) tied for 102nd with a 191 (100-91).
Cortland heads to the Hamilton Invitational next Saturday and Sunday at the Rome Country Club.
