ITHACA, N.Y. – Freshman Gina Milazzo (Greenwood Lake/Warwick Valley) tied a school single-round record with a 71 on Sunday and posted the second-best two-day score in program history with a 146 to finish in first place at the Ithaca Invitational. The tournament was conducted Saturday and Sunday at the RaNic Golf Club.
 
Cortland finished second out of six teams with a combined score of 660. The Red Dragons were third after Day 1 with a 334 before bouncing back with a 326 on the second day to edge Union (324-337-661) by one stroke. Ithaca won the team title with a 609 (307-302).
 
Milazzo posted a three-over par 75 on Saturday with one birdie and 13 pars and was tied for first place. On Sunday, she registered five birdies, three on the front nine, and nine pars for a 71 and earned medalist honors by three strokes over Ithaca's Madison Coffey (75-74-149). Milazzo's 71 on Sunday matches the best Cortland single-day score, accomplished three times by Danielle Bambola, and her 146 total is second in the Cortland record book behind only Bambola's 144 at the 2019 St. Lawrence Invitational.
 
Senior Sophie Oristian (North Potomac, MD/Quince Orchard) finished 16th in the 33-golfer field with a two-day score of 169. After an 89 on Saturday, she posted an 80 on Sunday with a birdie and 10 pars. Sophomore Mimi Rienzo (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) tied for 17th place with a 170 (82-88). She carded 11 pars during her opening round. Sophomore Pia Aguilar (Santiago, Chile/Colegio Highlands) placed 21st with a 177 (88-89) and junior Kara Dumas (Jefferson/Gilboa-Conesville) was 22nd with a 178 (91-87).
