CORTLAND, N.Y. –
Kazuki Kadota-Browner (Jericho) and
Kevin Kohlhoff (West Islip) each broke school diving records and
Mason Rowlands (Campbell Hall/Washingtonville),
Hunter Sugrue-Neuendorf (Valley Cottage/Nyack) and
Ayden Baxter (Marlboro) each won two individual races as Cortland defeated visiting New Paltz, 166-85, in a men's swimming and diving dual meet.
Kadota-Browner posted a 6-dive score of 337.35 points on the 3-meter board, eclipsing the previous school mark of 335.20 points set by Jeff Holden in 1984. Kohlhoff registered a 6-dive score of 346.73 points on the 1-meter board, breaking the school record of 321.90 points set by Lee Wade in 2017.
Rowlands won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:50.19 and the 100-yard freestyle in 50.49 seconds. Sugrue-Neuendorf was the winner in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.29) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.49), and Baxter won the 500-yard freestyle (5:04.44) and the 400-yard IM (4:26.27), the latter as an exhibition entry.
Sean Zupko (Montgomery/Valley Central) was the winner in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:44.28) and
Dom Fratto took top honors in the 100-yard backstroke (55.66).
Dylan Monaco (Lynbrook) won the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.92),
Jack Clark (Rochester/Aquinas Institute) won the 50-yard freestyle (22.22) and
Kellen Dickman (Montgomery/Valley Central) was the winner in the 100-yard butterfly (52.95).
The combination of
Trent deHaan (Greene/Greene Central), Sugrue-Neuendorf, Dickman and
Dylan Anselment (Glens Falls) won the 400-yard medley relay in 3:38.79. Clark, Dickman,
Patrick Kivlehan (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) and Rowlands turned in the top time in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:21.10) as an exhibition entry.
Cortland's individual runner-up finishers included Zupko in the 200 backstroke (2:06.13), Monaco in the 500 freestyle (5:11.27),
Nick Dambra (Brockport) in the 1,000 freestyle (11:51.81),
Makiah Poli (Cortland/Home schooled) in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.00),
Michael Tomasino (Lake Grove/Sachem North) in the 200 butterfly (2:12.19) and
Conner Utter (Manassas, VA/Patriot) in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.85).
Cortland will compete next Saturday at the RPI Kumpf Invitational and will send divers to the Hobart/William Smith Diving Invitational on Sunday.
