Cortland Men Defeat Visiting Oneonta, 135-77, in Final Home Dual Meet

Sean Zupko won the 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard freestyle
CORTLAND, N.Y. – Dylan Monaco (Lynbrook) and Sean Zupko (Montgomery/Valley Central) each won two individual events as Cortland defeated Oneonta, 135-77, in a men's swimming and diving dual meet at Holsten Pool.
 
Cortland was competing at home for the final time this season. The Red Dragons head to Oswego on Saturday for a 1 p.m. dual meet.
 
Monaco won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:45.92) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.08), while Zupko was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.69) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.14).
 
Jack Clark (Rochester/Aquinas Institute) captured the 50-yard freestyle (22.47), Hunter Sugrue-Neuendorf (Valley Cottage/Nyack) was the winner in the 100-yard freestyle (48.71), and Ben Bruning-Smith (Lockport/Starpoint) was victorious in the 500-yard freestyle (5:14.71). Alex Hilldale (Binghamton/Chenango Valley) took top honors in 1-meter diving (263.35 points) and Ayden Baxter (Marlboro) finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.76) as an exhibition entry.
 
Cortland opened the meet with a victory by Makiah Poli (Cortland/Home schooled), Sugrue-Neuendorf, Nick Dambra (Brockport) and Dylan Anselment (Glens Falls) in the 400-yard medley relay. The combination of Sugrue-Neuendorf, Anselment, Kellen Dickman (Montgomery/Valley Central) and Clark turned in the fastest time as an exhibition entry in the 400-yard freestyle relay to close the meet.
 
Cortland celebrated Senior Day prior to the meet. The seniors on the Red Dragon men's team this year include: Anselment, Bruning-Smith, Dambra, Trent DeHaan (Greene/Greene Central), Ethan Domanico (New Windsor/Newburgh Free Academy), Hilldale, Patrick Kivlehan (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury), Jack Pagel (Cortlandt Manor/Walter Panas), Poli, Mason Rowlands (Campbell Hall/Washingtonville), Sugrue-Neuendorf and Zupko.
