Cortland senior forward
Domenic Settimo (East Meadow/P.A.L. Junior Islanders) and junior goalie
Ronan Mobley (Playa Del Ray, CA/New Hampshire Avalanche) have been chosen as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Ice Hockey Athlete and Goaltender of the Week, respectively, for the week ending Jan. 26.
Settimo had a four-point week in helping lead the Red Dragons to a pair of SUNYAC victories. He scored two goals on two shots in a 4-3 home victory over Oswego on Saturday evening, while also posting an on-ice rating of (+2). Settimo netted the first goal for the Red Dragons in the first period on a backhanded shot, then scored Cortland's third goal late in the second period, also a backhand, in the win. That performance followed a two-assist showing in a 6-2 home win over Morrisville on Friday evening, recording the primary assist on Cortland's first and fourth goals.
In 18 games this season, Settimo has recorded nine goals and six assists for 15 points and has a (+9) rating. He's tied for second on the team in goals scored and is fifth in points.
Mobley had a pair of strong performances in goal in the Red Dragons' two SUNYAC wins, posting a 2-0-0 record, a .915 save percentage, and a 2.51 GAA. The junior had a gutsy performance in helping lead Cortland to a 4-3 victory over Oswego in a battle for first place in the conference standings on Saturday evening, making 31 saves in goal. He stopped all 13 shots he faced in the third period to secure the one-goal win and also delivered numerous clutch saves in the first period to keep the Red Dragons within striking distance. Mobley also had an efficient outing on Friday evening, stopping 23-of-25 shots in the 6-2 home victory over Morrisville.
Mobley has played in 15 games, 13 as a starter, this season and has a 11-2-0 record with a 2.56 GAA and .902 save percentage.
Cortland is 13-5-0 overall and leads the SUNYAC with a 6-1-0 league mark. The Red Dragons are ranked 15th nationally in Division III in the latest USCHO.com and DIIIHockeyNews.com polls. Cortland heads to Western New York this weekend for league games Friday at Buffalo State and Saturday at Fredonia.
