Robby Cunningham and Tymothey Murrell Earn SUNYAC Wrestling Weekly Honors

Cortland sophomore Robby Cunningham (Miller Place) has been selected as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Wrestler of the Week and freshman Tymothey Murrell (Batavia) has been named the SUNYAC Wrestling Rookie of the Week for the week ending Jan 5.
 
Cunningham pinned all four of his opponents to win the 184-pound title at the Williams College Open on Saturday. He clinched the title with a pin in 4:30 versus Jamie Evarts of the host school. Cunningham upped his season record to 18-6 with 13 pins, a technical fall and two major decisions.
 
Murrell finished the Williams College Open tournament with a 4-2 record on Saturday at 184 pounds. He recorded two pins and a major decision for a fourth-place finish overall. For the season, Murrell is 11-7 with four pins and one major decisions.

SUNYAC wrestling consists of league core members Cortland, Oneonta and Oswego along with associate members Brockport, Ithaca, RIT, Utica and St. John Fisher.
 
Cortland will travel to the two-day Lycoming Budd Whitehill National Duals this weekend, with competition beginning on both Friday and Saturday at 9 a.m.
