Lisa Schulz (Mönchengladbach, Germany) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 12.
Schulz earns her fourth SUNYAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the week to go along with her two SUNYAC Women's Tennis Doubles Athletes of the Week awards on the season. Schulz won both of her matches at first singles during the week. She won 7-6 (7-1), 6-1 versus Oneonta's Haley Peck on Thursday, helping Cortland clinch a SUNYAC playoff berth in the process. The following day she won 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) over Alfred University's Alina Zabihailo. Schulz is 10-2 overall in singles play this fall, including an 8-2 mark at first singles.
Third-seeded Cortland (6-6) will travel to Binghamton on Friday at 4 p.m. to play against second-seeded Oswego in a SUNYAC Tournament semifinal matchup. The winner will face either top-seeded New Paltz or fourth-seeded Plattsburgh on Saturday at 1 p.m.
