Gina Milazzo in action on Day 2; she was Cortland's top finisher in a tie for 25th place
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Cortland women's golf team concluded its fall schedule with a 10th-place finish at the Le Moyne Fall Invitational. The two-day tournament was held Monday and Tuesday at the Bellevue Country Club.
The Red Dragons, the lone non-Division I team in the 10-team field, posted a 377 on the opening day in tough weather conditions. The weather improved on Tuesday, and so did Cortland with a score of 357 for a total of 734. Albany won the title with a 644 (324-320), followed by Siena with a 653 (340-313) and Fairfield with a 654 (338-316).
Gina Milazzo (Greenwood Lake/Warwick Valley) was Cortland's top finisher in 25th place out of 60 golfers. She opened with an 87 on the par-71 course and improved to an 82 on Day 2 for a 169. Fairfield's Sofia Nogato and Albany's Lucia Esteban each finished with scores of 157; Nogato earned medalist honors after winning the first playoff hole.
Mimi Rienzo (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) tied for 48th place with a 184 (94-90) and
Pia Aguilar (Santiago, Chile/Colegio Highlands) tied for 52nd with a 190 (98-92).
Steffi Trombley (Plattsburgh) tied for 54th (101-93-194) and
Kara Dumas (Jefferson/Gilboa-Conesville) placed 57th (98-103-201).
