OSWEGO, N.Y. - The Cortland women's volleyball team clinched its fifth straight SUNYAC regular-season title with a 25-4, 25-19, 27-25 win at second-place Oswego.

Cortland (19-6, 7-0 SUNYAC) will be the top seed in the six-team SUNYAC tournament and will host the semifinals and finals Nov. 14-15. The Red Dragons have won 43 straight league regular-season matches dating back to 2021, including 9-0 marks from 2021-24 in addition to their current 7-0 mark. Cortland will close the conference schedule at home next Friday and Saturday versus Potsdam and Plattsburgh.

Emalee Ballou (Eden) led Cortland versus the Lakers with 11 kills. She ended the match with a .304 attack percentage.
Lauren Millspaugh (Trumansburg/Charles O. Dickerson) totaled 10 kills with one error in 17 attempts (.529) along with two blocks,
Kira Pirrera (Hauppauge/Smithtown West) had nine kills, a .250 attack percentage, six aces, nine digs and two blocks, and
Sanaiya Whitted (Poughkeepsie/Franklin D. Roosevelt) finished with six kills and one error in 10 attempts (.500) along with two blocks.

Melissa O'Connor (Hauppauge) finished with 21 assists and nine digs,
Kayla Wasserman (Minisink/Minisink Valley) served three aces and
Alyssa Rich (Rochester/Churchville-Chili) led the team with 18 digs.
Emma Reilly (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) posted two blocks and
Samantha Rodriguez (Camarillo, CA/Adolfo Camarillo) had two aces.

Oswego (18-6, 6-2 SUNYAC), which is guaranteed a SUNYAC playoff spot, was led by Gigi Basile, Alaina Dudzinski, Priscilla McReynolds and Kalley Vugteveen with three kills apiece. Mya Bush handed out 12 assists and Piper Adams had three aces.

Cortland finished the match with a .235 attack percentage (39 kills, 15 errors, 102 attempts) and limited Oswego to a minus-.024 attack percentage (14 kills, 16 errors, 82 attempts).

Cortland trailed 1-0 in the first set before scoring 19 straight points, the last 18 on Pirrera's serve. The next two sets, however, were very tight. Cortland led 20-19 in the second set before scoring the final five points, including two Pirrera kills, a kill by Whitted, and a block by Whitted and Millspaugh. The third set was tied 11 times, including each interval from 22-22 to 25-25, before the Red Dragons closed out the set and the match on an Oswego service error and a Wasserman ace.
