ROME, N.Y. – Cortland's Gina Milazzo (Greenwood Lake/Warwick Valley) tied for fourth place out of 51 golfers at the Hamilton College Women's Golf Invitational, held Saturday and Sunday at the Rome Country Club.
 
Cortland finished in seventh place out of nine teams at the event with a two-day score of 703 (351 and 352), five strokes ahead of St. Lawrence and seven strokes behind Union. Hamilton won the tournament with a 609 (310-299).
 
The battle for medalist honors was tight as the top 13 golfers finished within five strokes of each other. Hamilton's Aubrey Lee won with a 76 on Saturday and a 75 on Sunday on the par-72 course for a 151. Ithaca's Helena Winterberg and Hamilton's Hellen Xiang tied for second at 152, and Milazzo and Union's Iyene Essien tied for fourth at 153. Two players tied for sixth (154), four players tied for eighth (155) and two players tied for 12th (156).
 
Milazzo registered two birdies and 12 pars on Saturday on the way to a 76, and she recorded two birdies and 10 pars Sunday and finished with a 77. Mimi Rienzo (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) tied for 31st place with a 174. She opened with a 90, and on Sunday she finished with an 84 with a birdie and nine pars.
 
Pia Aguilar (Santiago, Chile/Colegio Highlands) and Kara Dumas (Jefferson/Gilboa-Conesville) tied for 38th place at 190. Aguilar's best round was a 91 on Saturday and Dumas' best round was a 94, also on Saturday. Steffi Trombley (Plattsburgh) tied for 42nd place with a 194, including a 95 on Sunday.
 
Cortland will wrap up its fall schedule on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 20-21, at the Le Moyne College Fall Invitational at the Bellevue Country Club.
