Cortland senior goalkeeper
Jordan Ott (Fort Worth, TX/Southwest Christian) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 5. He earned the award for the fourth time this fall.
Ott continued his stellar season for the nationally ninth-ranked Red Dragons by making 16 combined saves in two shutouts last week. The senior capped off the week by setting Cortland's career record with his 25th shutout, making 10 saves and stopping a late penalty kick in a 2-0 win at Plattsburgh on Saturday afternoon. That performance followed a six-save shutout in a 0-0 tie against Oneonta on Wednesday.
In 990 minutes over 11 starts this season, Ott has a 7-1-3 record with a .947 save percentage, a 0.27 GAA and eight shutouts. He's recorded seven straight shutouts since Sept. 13 - the first run of seven consecutive blank sheets by the Red Dragons in program history. Ott ranks second nationally in Division III in GAA and second in save percentage, trailing only Scranton's Charlie Smith in each category.
Cortland (7-1-3, 2-0-1 SUNYAC) will host Oswego in a league contest Wednesday at 4 p.m.
