Cortland Drops 2-0 Decision to #19 York

CORTLAND, N.Y. - York College of Pennsylvania scored the game's only two goals in the first 17 minutes and the nationally 19th-ranked Spartans defeated host Cortland, 2-0, in a non-league field hockey contest.

York (6-5) took the lead 12:33 into the contest on a shot from the top of the circle by Katelyn Landis off a penalty corner insert from Hannah Downs. The Spartans added to their lead 1:05 into the second quarter when Michaela Cokinos' shot from the right side was redirected into the cage by Claire Burrows.

York finished with a 13-2 advantage in shots and an 8-3 edge in penalty corners. Cortland goalie Emma Morgan (Whitney Point) registered three saves and York goalie Abby Smith made two saves.
