Cassidy Torres won the 100-yard breaststroke and earned top-six finishes in two other events
EWING, N.J. – Led by 10 top-three finishes, the Cortland women's swimming and diving team finished in third place at the three-day TCNJ Invitational, conducted Friday through Sunday.
TCNJ won the team title with 1,057.5 points, followed by Stevens with 988, Cortland with 817 and Merchant Marine Academy with 490.5.
Cassidy Torres (Brooklyn/H.S. for Health Professionals) was the champion in the 100-yard breaststroke, posting a time of 1:08.20 in the finals after a prelim time of 1:08.10. Torres also finished fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:29.56 and tied for sixth in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.65 seconds.
Julia Bryce posted a runner-up finish in the 100-yard butterfly (59.52) and a third-place effort in the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.29).
Emma Bouwens (Hilton) was second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.76) and third in the 200-yard backstroke (2:16.57), and
Ella Garrow (Peru) finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.23) and fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:30.59, 2:30.11 prelims).
Auttumn Ayakawa (Honolulu, HI/Coppell (TX)) placed second in 3-meter diving with an 11-dive score of 388.35 points and was third on the 1-meter board with a score of 388.85 points.
Alyssa Haberlack (Long Beach) finished fourth in both diving events, scoring 372.40 points on the 1-meter board and 373.15 points on the 3-meter board, while Megan McLaughin (Avon) finished fifth in 3-meter diving (343.60 points) and sixth in 1-meter diving (360.55 points).
Morgan Hannon (Hyde Park/Franklin D. Roosevelt) finished fourth in three events - the 500-yard freestyle (5:22.48), the 400-yard IM (4:49.39) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:14.47).
Ryann Redmond (Floral Park/Floral Park Memorial) had three top-eight finishes, placing fourth in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:33.81) and seventh in both the 500-yard freestyle (5:25.20) and 200-yard freestyle (2:04.05, 2:02.93 prelims).
Peyton Glor (Tonawanda/Mount Saint Mary Academy) finished fifth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:17.98) and sixth in the 200-yard IM (2:18.38).
Areiannah Martinez-Reyes (Queens/Benjamin Cardozo) was sixth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.36),
Rhianna Lynch (New Hartford) finished sixth in the 100-yard freestyle (55.93), and
Tristinye Martinez-Reyes (Queens/Benjamin Cardozo) was seventh in the 200-yard IM (2:18.83).
Maura Nestler (Stormville/John Jay) finished eighth in both the 200-yard IM (2:20.82, 2:19.23 prelims) and 400-yard IM (4:56.51, 4:53.85 prelims), and
Makenna Deitz (Ravena/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) was eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.22, 1:12.48 prelims).
Cortland featured three top-four relays. Bouwens, Torres, Bryce and Lynch were third in the 400-yard medley relay (4:06.13), and
Theodora D'Amelio (Staten Island/St. Joseph by-the-Sea), Garrow,
Areiannah Martinez-Reyes and
Erin Galligan (Rochester/Our Lady of Mercy) finished third in the 200-yard medley relay (1:51.81). The quartet of
Norah Eisnor (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa), Torres, Bouwens and Lynch placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:42.05).
