Cortland junior women's volleyball outside hitter
Kira Pirrera (Hauppauge/Smithtown West) has been named a Division III honorable mention All-American for the 2025 season by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
In addition, Pirrera is one of three Red Dragons, along with senior defensive specialist/libero
Alyssa Rich (Rochester/Churchville-Chili) and sophomore middle blocker
Lauren Millspaugh (Trumansburg/Charles O. Dickerson), to be recognized on the AVCA All-Region 3 team. Pirrera was named to the all-region first team, while Rich and Millspaugh were honorable mention all-region.
Pirrera played in all 114 sets over 32 matches for the Red Dragons this fall and finished with 435 kills, a .226 attack percentage, 54 aces, a .975 serve reception percentage, 338 digs and 54 blocks. She led the Red Dragons in kills and aces and was second in digs. The SUNYAC Player of the Year, Pirrera recorded double-figure kills in 24 of 32 matches, including 22 each versus Gettysburg and Bowdoin and 21 each against Ithaca and Salisbury.
Rich played in all 114 sets during Cortland's 32 matches and ended the year with a team-high 503 digs along with 141 assists, 38 aces and a .963 serve reception percentage. The SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year, she recorded 26 digs against UMass Boston, 23 digs each against Juniata and Gettysburg, and 22 digs each versus Salisbury, Ithaca and William Smith.
Millspaugh played in 111 sets over 32 matches, 23 as a starter. She finished the season with 228 kills, a .385 attack percentage and 108 blocks. She led Cortland in attack percentage (minimum 50 attempts) and blocks, and she was third in kills. Millspaugh was named SUNYAC Tournament MVP after recording a combined 16 kills with one error in 29 attempts along with six blocks in two Cortland tournament victories.
Cortland (24-8) won its fifth straight SUNYAC title, going 9-0 in the league's regular season for the fifth consecutive year and sweeping Buffalo State and Oswego in the conference tournament. Cortland lost to Christopher Newport University in the opening round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.
