Kellen Dickman was the 100-yard butterfly champion and was part of the second-place 400-yard medley relay team
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Cortland men's swimming and diving team maintained its lead in the team standings during the second full day of competition at the 2025 State University of New York Athletic Conference-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (SUNYAC-AMCC) Championship.
The championship, held at the Burt Flickinger Center on the campus of Erie Community College, is the first-ever combined SUNYAC and AMCC Championship. Ten teams are competing - six from the SUNYAC (Cortland, Fredonia, Oneonta, Oswego, New Paltz and Potsdam) and four from the AMCC (Alfred State, Pitt Bradford, Penn St. Altoona and Penn St. Behrend). Competition will conclude on Saturday
Cortland currently has 567 team points, followed by Penn St. Behrend at 469. Oswego (306.5), New Paltz (289) and Oneonta (275) round out the top five.
Kellen Dickman (Montgomery/Valley Central) won the 100-yard butterfly in 50.17 seconds for Cortland's lone title of the evening. The Red Dragons, however, did post two runner-up finishes -
Ayden Baxter (Marlboro) in the 400-yard IM (4:12.14) and the combo of
Makiah Poli (Cortland/Home schooled),
Hunter Sugrue-Neuendorf (Valley Cottage/Nyack), Dickman and
Jack Clark (Rochester/Aquinas Institute) in the 400-yard medley relay (3:27.28).
Mason Rowlands (Campbell Hall/Washingtonville) placed third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.04) and
Dylan Monaco (Lynbrook) was fourth in the 100-yard butterfly (52.17).
Sean Zupko (Montgomery/Valley Central) placed fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.46) and
Dom Fratto (Waterloo/Geneva) was fifth in the 100-yard backstroke (51.57, 51.63 prelims).
Other Red Dragons competing in the finals on Friday included
Michael Tomasino (Lake Grove/Sachem North) in the 400 IM (6th place, 4:25.57), Poli in the 100 backstroke (6th place, 51.73), Sugrue-Neuendorf in the 100 breaststroke (6th place, 58.91, 58.53 prelims), Clark in the 200 freestyle (7th place, 1:46.49),

Patrick Kivlehan (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) in the 200 freestyle (1:48.42, 1:47.75 prelims).
Other scorers for Cortland were
Nick Dambra (Brockport) in 10th place in the 200 freestyle (1:47.89),
Zack Kreiley (Dansville) in 10th place in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.06),
Dylan Anselment (Glens Falls) in 13th place in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.01) and
Lucas Gannon (Schenectady/Mohonasen) in 16th place in the 400 IM (4:44.66, 4:41.09 prelims).
Unlike past years in the SUNYAC Championships, teams are allowed this year to enter "B" relay teams that can score points, but not finish ahead of any other school's "A" relays. Cortland's 400-yard medley relay "B" team of deHaan, Kreiley, Monaco and Anselment placed 12th officially in 3:35.60, which was the second-best of the "B" entries and the seventh-fastest time overall.
