Red Dragons Close Regular-Season Schedule with 67-52 Win at Canton

CANTON, N.Y. - The Cortland men's basketball team wrapped up its regular-season schedule with a 67-52 victory at Canton. The Red Dragons (14-11, 13-5 SUNYAC) will be the third seed in the upcoming six-team SUNYAC playoffs and will host sixth-seeded Oneonta in a first-round game Tuesday at 7 p.m.
 
Kendrick Wilson (Wheatley Heights/Moravian Prep (NC)) led Cortland with 16 points. He connected on 4-of-7 3-pointers. Joel Davis finished with 11 points and 16 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season. He also had four assists and two blocks.
 
Aaron Coston (Kerhonkson/Rondout Valley) totaled nine points, six rebounds and three assists. Kendall Arcuri (Staten Island/St. Joseph by-the-Sea) added seven points, eight rebounds and three assists and Pierre Hajjar (Brussels, Belgium/Victory Rock Prep) scored seven points.
 
Canton (4-21, 4-14 SUNYAC) was led by Kevin Goode Jr. with 14 points and Eli Larson with 12 points and five rebounds.
 
Cortland turned a 14-11 lead with 13 minutes left in the first half into a 27-11 lead less about four minutes later. Wilson made two 3-pointers and Hajjar hit a trey during that run. The Red Dragons led by as many as 19 points in the first half and held a 35-17 halftime lead. Canton got to within 11 points with 4:14 left before Cortland answered with a Jaylen Warmack (Utica/Utica Notre Dame) layup and a Wilson 3-pointer to make it a 16-point game.
 
Cortland shot 44 percent from the floor overall and 36 percent (11-of-31) from the arc while holding Canton to 28 percent overall and 10 percent (2-of-20) from deep.
