Red Dragon Men Win SUNYAC-AMCC Championship

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Cortland men's swimming and diving team captured the team title at the 2025 State University of New York Athletic Conference-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (SUNYAC-AMCC) Championship. The championship, held at the Burt Flickinger Center on the campus of Erie Community College, is the first-ever combined SUNYAC and AMCC Championship. Ten teams competed - six from the SUNYAC (Cortland, Fredonia, Oneonta, Oswego, New Paltz and Potsdam) and four from the AMCC (Alfred State, Pitt Bradford, Penn St. Altoona and Penn St. Behrend).
 
Cortland finished with 867 points, followed by Penn St. Behrend with 691, Oswego with 452.5 and New Paltz with 413. Other team finishers were Penn St. Altoona (376), Oneonta (365), Alfred St. (264.5), Pitt Bradford (158), Potsdam (130) and Fredonia (82).
 
Cortland Head Coach Brian Tobin and his assistant coaches were named the SUNYAC-AMCC Swimming Coaching Staff of the Meet.
 
The Red Dragons earned three runner-up finishes on Saturday. Kellen Dickman (Montgomery/Valley Central) was second in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.09), Kevin Kohlhoff (West Islip) placed second in 3-meter diving (484.35 points) and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Jack Clark (Rochester/Aquinas Institute), Mason Rowlands (Campbell Hall/Washingtonville), Dylan Anselment (Glens Falls) and Hunter Sugrue-Neuendorf (Valley Cottage/Nyack) finished second in 3:08.95.
 
Sean Zupko (Montgomery/Valley Central) finished third in the 200-yard backstroke (1:54.64), Makiah Poli (Cortland/Home schooled) was third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:07.15) and Kazuki Kadota-Browner (Jericho) finished third in 3-meter diving (469.95 points; 498.65 prelims).
 
Clark claimed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (47.41), Rowlands was fourth in the 1,650-yard freestyle (16:40.68), Dylan Monaco (Lynbrook) was fourth in the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.66) and Alex Hilldale (Binghamton/Chenango Valley) placed fourth in 3-meter diving (423.50 points). Ayden Baxter (Marlboro) finished fifth in the 1,650 freestyle (16:42.50), Zack Kreiley (Dansville) was fifth in the 200 breaststroke (2:11.36), Sugrue-Neuendorf touched the wall sixth in the 100 freestyle (47.60, 47.46 prelims) and Michael Tomasino was sixth in the 200 butterfly (1:59.56).
 
Other Red Dragon top-eight finishers included Lucas Gannon in seventh place in the 1,650 freestyle (17:24.63), Dom Fratto (Waterloo/Geneva) in seventh in the 200 backstroke (1:58.23, 1:57.45 prelims), Anselment eighth in the 100 freestyle (48.14, 47.74 prelims) and Trent deHaan (Greene/Greene Central) eighth in the 200 backstroke (2:02.02, 2:00.96 prelims).
 
Patrick Kivlehan (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) earned points with his 11th-place finish in the 1,650 freestyle (17:31.20), as did Nick Dambra (Brockport) with a 13th-place showing in the 100 freestyle (48.86, 48.77 prelims).
 
Unlike past years in the SUNYAC Championships, teams are allowed this year to enter "B" relay teams that can score points but not finish ahead of any other school's "A" relays. Cortland's 400 freestyle relay "B" team of Fratto, Dambra, Monaco and Dickman) officially finished 10th in 3:11.97. They were the top "B" relay and had the fifth-fastest time overall.
