Cortland senior pitchers Nick Jessen (Syracuse/West Genesee) and Dylan Beers (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury) have been named to the D3baseball.com National Team of the Week for the week ending Feb. 23. Jessen was one of four starting pitchers chosen and Beers earned one of the two relief pitcher spots on the team.
 
Jessen allowed three hits and one run with two strikeouts and two walks in six innings a 7-1 win over nationally ranked Christopher Newport on Sunday at the D3 Showcase tournament in Greensboro, N.C. The previous day Beers tossed four and two thirds innings of hitless relief with seven strikeouts and one walk in a 2-1 loss to nationally ranked Lynchburg.
 
Cortland (2-2) is ranked 15th nationally by D3baseball.com and 19th by the ABCA. The Red Dragons will travel to Shenandoah University in Virginia for games versus Immaculata, Wittenberg and Shenandoah at the Hornets' Mr. V Memorial Classic Saturday and Sunday.
