GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - Cortland outscored host Southwestern University 12-2 over the final six innings to erase an 8-6 deficit and the Red Dragons defeated the Pirates, 18-10, in non-league baseball action.

Cortland finished 3-2 on its five-game Texas trip and is now 8-7 overall. The Red Dragons begin SUNYAC play at home this weekend with a three-game set at home versus Oswego - a single game Friday at 3 p.m. and a doubleheader Saturday at noon.

Cortland's offense finished the game with 13 hits and 16 walks. The game lasted four hours and two minutes. Southwestern (9-11) recorded 11 hits.

Ten Red Dragons recorded at least one hit.
Luke Schartner (Bayport/Bayport-Blue Point) finished 2-for-4 with a homer, two walks, three runs and five RBI.
Chris Bonacci (Syracuse/West Genesee) went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and three runs and
Kameron Hartenstein (Meriden, CT/Maloney) was 2-for-2 with a double.

JJ DeLawder (Hyde Park/Franklin D. Roosevelt) homered, walked and drove in two runs.
Nolan Smith (Hamburg) was 1-for-2 with a double, four walks and two RBI and
Lucas Granger (Horseheads) was 1-for-4 with two walks, two RBI and two runs.
Dylan Tierney (East Greenbush/Columbia) ended 1-for-3 with two walks,
Nick Marola (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) was 1-for-3 with a double, walk and two runs, and
Danny Jackson (Lagrangeville/Arlington) walked three times, was 1-for-4 and scored four runs.

Dylan Beers (Highland Mills/Monroe-Woodbury), Cortland's second reliever, earned the win. He allowed one run on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts in two innings. Beers was the pitcher of record when Cortland took the lead for good in the fourth.
Ryan Banks (Woodbury/Syosset) struck out seven batters, walked one and did not allow any hits in three scoreless innings

Nick Hanson (Ladera Ranch, CA/Aliso Niguel) struck out two and walked two in scoreless seventh inning,
Brady Mazzeo (Averill Park) allowed a hit and two unearned runs with two strikeouts in the eighth, and
Tommy Lynch (West Seneca/Canisius) pitched a perfect ninth with a strikeout.

Christian Melillo went 3-for-5 with three RBI, Jordan Coronado was 2-for-4 with two walks and three runs, and Wyatt Kuhlow ended 2-for-4 for Southwestern. Connor Duffey and Tanner Teffs each had two RBI and two runs scored. Garrett Guinn, the Pirates' first reliever, suffered the loss after allowing five runs, three earned, in two innings. He gave up one hit and six walks and struck out three.

Cortland trailed 8-6 after three innings but scored five in the fourth and three in the fifth to go up 14-8. The Red Dragons added a run in the sixth, two in the seventh and one in the ninth. Cortland scored at least once in eight out of nine innings.

Cortland's go-ahead five-run fourth featured a Granger bases-loaded walk, a Bonacci RBI fielder's choice, and a Bonacci steal of home as part of a double steal. The Red Dragons only posted one hit in the three-run fifth but took advantage of three walks and two hit by pitches. With the bases loaded, Schartner was hit by a pitch, Smith walked and DeLawder walked. Schartner's three-run homer came in a four-run second for Cortland after the hosts took a 4-1 lead in the first.
