CORTLAND, N.Y. - Freshman
Gianna Endieveri (Glens Falls) tossed Cortland's first no-hitter in four years as the Red Dragons defeated visiting Oswego, 9-0 in five innings, to complete a sweep of the Lakers in SUNYAC play. Cortland won the opener, 11-2, also in five innings due to the eight-run rule.
Â
Cortland improved to 8-12 overall and 4-0 in the SUNYAC. The Red Dragons' doubleheader at Buffalo State on Tuesday has been postponed. Cortland is scheduled to return to action with a doubleheader Wednesday at Fredonia.

Â
Cortland 9, Oswego 0 (5 inn.)
Â
Endieveri tossed the first Cortland no-hitter since Courtney Kane recorded two no-hitters during the 2021 season, the most recently on May 1 of that year. Endieveri, now 4-3 on the season, allowed only two baserunners - she walked Sellars with two outs in the second, and DiPalma reached on an error with one out in the third. She finished with a career-high eight strikeouts and completed the no-hitter with just 56 pitches.
Â
The best threat for a hit by Oswego (7-11, 0-2 SUNYAC) came in the top of the first. With one out, Haggerty ripped a liner to deep right but Cortland right fielder
Lainie Ornstein (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown) raced back, extended her glove and made a "snowcone" catch to rob Haggerty of a hit.
Â
Cortland grabbed a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Wright led off with a home run just inside the left field foul pole. Later in the inning McAnally singled in a run, and an error with the bases loaded allowed two runs to score. Another run came in when Endieveri stole second, with a throwing error on the play allowing McAnally to score from third.
Â
Cummings singled in a run and
Katie Stork (Massapequa) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in a run to make it 7-0 in the second. Cortland added a run on an error in the third, and
Brooke Scheibe (Sayville) added a pinch-hit RBI double in the fourth to push the lead to 9-0.
Â
McAnally finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, Wright was 1-for-3 with a homer, walk and two runs, Barry finished 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs and Cummings went 1-for-2 with a hit by pitch and RBI.
Â
Oswego starter Maria Lutz gave up nine runs, six earned, over four innings to take the loss.
