Cortland sophomore Matthew Nochowitz (Glen Head/North Shore) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 13.
 
Nochowitz allowed four hits, one walk and one run and struck out a career-high 13 batters in just five and two thirds innings during Cortland's 6-5 win over Oneonta last Sunday. He left with the lead but received a no decision after Oneonta tied the game in the seventh.
 
Nochowitz has made eight appearances this spring, four as a starter. He's 2-0 and he's struck out 31 batters with just four walks in 23 and a third innings.
 
Cortland (18-10, 8-3 SUNYAC) will play a three-game SUNYAC series at Canton on Friday and Saturday.
